3. Software Overview

3.1 Core Positioning

GeoTwin Data Visualization Platform is an enterprise-oriented data visualization dashboard builder. Through a visual drag-and-drop editing interface, users can quickly build professional data display dashboards with minimal or no coding required. The platform supports multiple chart types, map displays, 3D models, video playback, IoT device data integration, and more — making it widely applicable to smart campuses, smart construction sites, smart cities, smart water management, comprehensive data displays, and other scenarios.

3.2 Module Structure

The software consists of the following core modules:

Dashboard Management Module: Manages the full lifecycle of dashboards, including creation, editing, saving, deletion, duplication, sharing, and import/export.

Component Library Module: Provides a rich set of built-in components and empowers users to create custom components, helping them build visualization elements that better fit their business needs.

Data Source Management Module: Supports the configuration of multiple data source types, including API, App, and IoT data sources, with dataset querying, filtering, and formatting capabilities.

Deployment and Publishing Module: Supports dashboard preview, share link generation, and export/deployment features.

3.3 Core Advantages

  • Easy to Use: Visual drag-and-drop editing with a WYSIWYG interface — no programming experience required to get started quickly
  • Rich Components: A wide variety of built-in chart types, with support for complex components such as maps, 3D models, and video, meeting diverse display needs
  • Flexible Data Handling: Supports multiple data source types, powerful data processing capabilities, and real-time data updates
  • Powerful Interactions: Supports complex component interaction configurations to achieve data linkage and dynamic interactive effects
  • Multi-scenario Adaptability: Suitable for smart cities, smart campuses, industrial monitoring, command and dispatch centers, and many other application scenarios

4. Configuration and Data Formats

4.1 Dashboard Configuration File Format

Type Supported Format Notes
Import File JSON Dashboard configuration file format, containing complete component, style, and data source settings
Export File JSON Exported files can be re-imported, supporting dashboard configuration backup and migration

4.2 Data Source Configuration Formats

Data loading supports connecting data to components through various data sources for display. This flexibility provides support for multiple data formats and enables dynamic data updates with real-time display. Data refresh intervals only take effect in preview mode, significantly reducing the workload of manually writing extensive code to fetch data.

The platform currently supports the following 13 data source types:

No. Data Source Type Description
1 gtApp Data Connects to GeoTwin application data; supports fetching data from configured applications
2 gtApp Popup Data Connects to GeoTwin application popup data for displaying device popup information
3 gtApp Device Data Connects to real-time data from GeoTwin IoT devices
4 Static Data Configures static data directly within a component; suitable for fixed-data scenarios
5 API Data Retrieves external API data via HTTP requests; supports GET and POST methods
6 SQL Database Data Connects directly to a database for querying; supports multiple SQL databases
7 WebSocket Data Receives real-time data push via the WebSocket protocol
8 Record Dataset Uses the platform's built-in dataset query functionality
9 Public Shared Data Globally shared data that can be used by multiple components simultaneously
10 MQTT Data Retrieves IoT device data via the MQTT protocol
11 Parsed Data Supports parsing and conversion processing of data
12 Fill Data Entry Supports data entry functionality, allowing users to manually input data
13 Flow Data Workflow Supports workflow data integration

Important Notes:

  • All data source types listed above support arbitrary data formats. However, for data to display correctly within a component, it must be converted to the format required by that component. The Data Filter can be used to perform this conversion.
  • Component Interactions can also be configured to receive parameters passed from other components, enabling data linkage effects.
  • Data refresh policies support configuring automatic refresh intervals for real-time data updates.

4.3 Dataset Configuration

A dataset (Record) is a reusable data query configuration. Users can create datasets in the data source management section and share them across multiple components. Datasets enable centralized data management, avoiding the need to repeatedly configure the same interface parameters in each component.

Configuration Item Description
Dataset Name Display name of the dataset, used for identification and management
Dataset ID Unique identifier for the dataset, used for quick reference
Dataset Category The group the dataset belongs to, for categorized management
Interface URL URL address of the backend API interface
Request Method HTTP request method; supports GET, POST, and others
Message Template Template format for configuring request parameters
Debug Test the interface here to verify the correctness of returned data

4.4 Component Data Formats

The following are sample data format examples for chart components:

Format 1 (Category-Series Format):

{
  "categories": ["Apple", "Samsung", "Xiaomi", "OPPO", "vivo"],
  "series": [
    {
      "name": "Phone Brand",
      "data": [1000879, 3400879, 2300879, 5400879, 3400879]
    }
  ]
}

Format 2 (Name-Value Pair Format):

[
  { "name": "Apple", "value": 1000879 },
  { "name": "Samsung", "value": 3400879 },
  { "name": "Xiaomi", "value": 2300879 }
]

5.3 Troubleshooting Common Issues

Issue 1: Dashboard Component Displaying Abnormally

Check whether the component's data source configuration is correct and confirm that the returned data format meets the component's requirements. Also check the browser console for any error messages.

Issue 2: Data Fails to Load

Check whether the data source URL is correct; confirm that the network connection is functioning normally; confirm that the API interface supports cross-origin requests; check whether the request parameters and request headers are configured correctly.

Issue 3: 3D Model Fails to Display

Confirm that the browser supports WebGL; check whether the model file URL is correct; confirm that the model format is supported by the platform (GLTF / GLB, etc.).

Issue 4: Video Fails to Play

Check whether the video URL is correct; confirm that the video format is supported (HLS requires an m3u8 address); check whether the current network environment supports the HLS protocol.

Issue 5: Interaction Events Not Taking Effect

Check whether the interaction configuration has been saved correctly; confirm that the trigger conditions and action configurations are correct; check whether the target component exists in the current dashboard.

Issue 6: IoT Device Data Not Updating

Check whether the MQTT connection configuration is correct; confirm that the device is online; check whether the data formatting function can correctly process the data returned by the device.
